CFE Energy is built around one idea: a carbon-free energy claim is only as good as the data behind it. The platform has three layers — data ingestion, certificate matching, and reporting — each designed to hold up under outside audit, not just look good on a dashboard.

LAYER 1

Multi-source ingestion

Clean energy claims rarely come from one contract. The platform pulls from every source you actually draw power from or hold a claim against, and reconciles them onto one hourly timeline per delivery point.

Feeds arrive via API, SFTP, or direct utility and registry connections. Each reading is time-stamped, geolocated to a delivery point, and reconciled against duplicate or conflicting sources before it enters the matching engine.


LAYER 2

The CFE Certificate matching engine

This is the core of the platform, built on the CFE Energy Matching Framework rather than a black-box scoring method. Every match is evaluated against three criteria, in this order.

Temporal matching

Consumption and generation are compared within a fixed interval — an hour by default, tightening to sub-hourly where local issuance supports it. A certificate generated at 2pm cannot cover consumption at 9pm.

Geographic matching

Certificates must originate from a production device that can physically reach the consumption point — typically the same bidding zone or a configurable deliverability radius, so a claim reflects what the local grid could actually carry.

Attribute matching

Optional filters — technology type, commissioning date, additionality criteria — let a buyer restrict matches to, say, production devices under three years old, in line with the product definition they've committed to.

Cancellation & claim record

Matched certificates are cancelled against the consumption record, producing a permanent, one-time-use claim that a Claim Verifier can check independently of CFE Energy.

LAYER 3

Reporting & audit trail

The output isn't a single percentage — it's a full hourly ledger. Every number in a dashboard traces back to the meter reading and certificate cancellation that produced it, which is what makes the platform usable in front of an external auditor rather than just internal reporting.

Built to sit inside your existing stack

Most customers don't replace their metering, PPA management, or ERP systems to adopt CFE Energy — they connect them. The platform exposes a REST API for consumption and certificate data, and ships native connectors for major meter data management systems, GO and REC registries, and utility billing platforms.
